Toast

This movie was shot in 2010 as a BBC TV movie, then went to U.S. as a theatrical film in 2011. 2 years later it came to Malaysia. I was surprised to find the cinema was quite full, as I thought no one would be interested. I guess Freddie Highmore and Helena Bonham Carter are enough to pull people in.

I love this movie a lot. It is simple but full of emotion, and it is the perfect way of telling the story of this boy. Great acting by all the cast, especially Helena Bonham Carter and the little boy who appeared as Young Nigel Slater. Also, it re-introduced 2 old songs to me (The Look of Love & If You Go Away).

Although Freddie Highmore was only in the last 30 minutes of the film, I'm still glad he grew up to be a normal teenager, and not the "Lindsay Lohan" or the "Macalay Culkin" type.
