Random thoughts after re-watching "The Mask of
Zorro" (1st re-visit of the film after the original viewing long time
ago):
(1) Stuart Wilson, who played Don Rafael Montero looked
nothing like Christoph Waltz, but I couldn't help but wonder if Waltz will play
the role should the movie is made now. The way Wilson speaks and move reminded
me of Waltz.
(2) Speaking of if the movie is made now, surely the studio
will make the decision to shoot it in 3D with so many scenes perfect for depth
perception like the sword fights and all the flying objects in the explosions.
(3) So how many explosions and fires were there? The answer:
A lot.
(4) Early in the movie when Antonio Banderas first appeared,
he was being dragged behind a carriage together with his brother. The person
riding the carriage (Jack) teased them and offered them empty bottle with no
water in it which enraged the brothers. Later we found out that Jack was
actually the brother's friend and it was all a trap to rob some local armies.
Question: Was the earlier water scene all just to mislead the audience, as
there was no one around them that time thus there's no need to pretend?
(5) They created two very hot & sexy scenes for Antonio
Banderas & Catherine Zeta-Jones: The dancing & the duel.
(6) If there is a "Best Choreography" category at
the Oscar, this movie won it in 1998.
(7) Catherine Zeta-Jones will win the Oscar four years
later? The same Catherine Zeta-Jones who seems a little wooden here?
(8) "The pointy end goes in another man"... OK,
now I know Captain Hook from TV series "Once Upon a Time" watched
this movie too.
(9) Another cheesy line: "I will scream" "I
understand. I have that effect sometime." OMG, haha.
(10) Before becoming Mr. Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony was
quite a respectable Latin singer, who sang the theme song of this movie
together with Tina Arena. Yes, Tina Arena, where is she now?
