No matter how unwilling I was to wake up this morning, I had to. And now that I'm in the office I started to feel to "oh no, how do I make it through the week" mood. So I thought maybe I should think about some happy things, and what else can make me happier more than planning for the weekend movie (or movies... plural, don't judge).
Let's look at what are the options we have this weekend. Looks like lots of choices.
CLOUD ATLAS!!! Yeah! But no thank you. This is probably my most anticipated movie of 2012 and I'm not gonna let the censorship of Malaysia ruining it by cutting out all the best parts (I know there are best parts to be cut out because I've ruined it for myself actually by watching it in a super super bad DVD version, recorded in a cinema with bad audio, sometimes even switched to Spanish so I guess I know where they recorded the movie from). I am waiting for the DVD to be released, but I just found out that they had pushed back the release date from February to June, and now even June is not certain.
LINCOLN. Another one I had ruined it by watching a similarly crappy DVD, but I fast forwarded many times so I can't count it as a movie I've actually watched before. So yes, maybe this one. It's two and a half hour long, full of lengthy conversation and dialogue... err... okay wait a moment... but it's also featured Danile Day-Lewis and Sally Field, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tommy Lee Jones, and many more. Let's put it as "possible" for now.
FLIGHT. Watched it. Loved Denzel Washington & John Goodman.
DARK SKIES. I have to admit I never heard of this movie before, but then again I am never attracted to horror movie. Not because I am scared (I watched Drag Me To Hell in cinema, the earliest showing with less than 10 people in the room and the air-con was cold like hell plus I was holding back my pee half of the show and I love love love the movie. So yes I can watch horror movie if I want to), but because most of the horror movies involve some sort of mysteries, a ghost coming back for revenge or to haunt a house or something mysteriously causing the incidents and we have to wait til the last 5 minutes to find out what is it or the truth behind all the incidents. I have no patient to sit through the whole movie just for that 5 minutes. If I am watching DVD I will fast forward it to the last 5 minutes just to see the ending.
BEAUTIFUL CREATURE. When I first saw the trailer, I immediately thought of DARK SHADOW, that Tim Burton's weirdly entertaining vampire soap opera. And then I realized it's more like a Twilight which is a big no no for me (I've only watched the first Twilight movie and immediately vowed never to watch any of the sequels again, that's how bad I felt the movie was). The fact that it's bombed in the box office only make it worse. But I've never care too much for box office anyway, I watched lots of the bad movies and box office turkey. So right now, this movie still has hope to make it to my weekend list.
TOGETHER. Donnie Yen in a romantic love story? Zhendong Ke & Michelle Chen in the same movie again but have no scene together? And they are dubbed in Cantonese? I don't think so. Plus, I've read some terrible reviews for the movie.
I LOVE HK, JOURNEY TO THE WEST, THE WEDDING DIARY 2. The remaining three CNY movies I have yet to watch. Somehow after the Once Upon a Time & Hotel Deluxe, I have lost my interest in any CNY movie. Not even Stephen Chow can revive that, not that I'm a big fan to begin with. He lost me since Shaolin Soccer. I can never understand his ambition to be more artistic in his movie. Whatever happened to the typical Honkie who made us laugh so hard in the 90s?
I think that's all the movies I can pick from. That's a lot. I can still decide in the coming few days. But let's just say that the most possible results would be LINCOLN or BEAUTIFUL CREATURE for now.
